hotel elite

Hello all

Arriving at the Hotel Elite tomorrow in the evening, any suggestions regarding good pub/bars and places to eat in the immediate vicinity would be very welcome......

Thanks in advance

cafe louvre on narodni, pod kridlem on vorsilska, dynamo on pstrossova and lemon leaf on mysilkova, all within 5 minutes walk of the hotel are good. If you walk across the bridge by the national theatre, you will also find Olympia a great pub / restaurant and Cafe Savoy, which is good to eat. U Medvicku on Na Perstyne and U zlateho tygra further down the street on Husova are two of the most famous czech pubs.

Lots of snow here so don%26#39;t bring your best shoes and bring some warm clothes

The Dog%26#39;s Bollocks pub is just a short block down Ostrovani from the Elite - certainly not much %26#39;local%26#39; flavor but OK later in the evening when it fills up some. Peb7 is dead on about the Olympia - I was there 3 times during my 2 week stay in February - you will not find better Pilsner Urquell (they bring it in in tanker trucks and pump it into the bar tanks). Try the beef goulash ala Pilsen - about as filling a $6US meal as you will find.

I also heartily recommend U Maltezskych Rytiru

(At the knights of Malta)restaurant - on Prokopska #10 - get on tram 22 or 23 at the Tesco about 50 yds from the Elite (in the direction toward the National Theatre)ride 4 stops to Malostranske Namesti, come back a short block down Karmeletska (sp?), then left down Prokopska. Best food I%26#39;ve had in Prague and still cheap by US/UK standards.
