calling to the United States

I really appreciate all your prompt and detailed replies to my questions! I have one more... What numbers does one need to dial before the 10 digit number to telephone the United States from Prague? Also, what is the best way to avoid expensive hotel phone charges. If I purchase a phone card from the post office here in the US before I leave, will that work well or will I still be charged for using the hotel line? Any good alternatives?

001, then the area code, for example; 617 for Boston.

AT%26amp;T calling cards often reduce the cost of calling to the US from abroad considerably, if rung from a non hotel room telephone.

we were wondering the same, i heard of some people getting special phones just for overseas travel and then returning them when they come back to the states.

You can rent phone from www.cellularabroad.com or you can go to www.mobal.com and buy one for $49.95 with all the adaptors for various countries etc.

I have a Mobal and love it..use it on all my trips.

I just purchased an ATT prepaid calling card (%26quot;300 minutes%26quot; for $30.00). According to the rate information on the ATT website, this card will last me for 42 minutes of calling from Prague to the USA which translates to 70 cents a minute. The Mobal rates per minute looked much more expensive than that, but then you do have the advantage of having the phone with you all the time! For the few calls, I%26#39;ll need to make, the phone card should work well for me. Thanks everyone!

hello everyone, our family would like to go to italy, if choice, tuscany area. 5 people, not all at once necessarily, but perhaps at times all of us, for a month or so. could use any suggestions. do not speak italian, very little. receptive to other areas. would think a villa, apt preferential? have no real idea of anything yet. any suggestions very appreciated.thank you. ciao, a.steve giordano, kane,pa. asgio2001@yahoo.com or mgiordano80@verizon.net

asgio. You%26#39;re best to ask your question on the Tuscany forum. A villa is obviously best, but beware, especially in summer, they are pretty expensive. And don%26#39;t think that the villa in the middle of nowhere down a track, 5 miles from the nearest village will be absolutely idyllic for a month, even if it has a great view. It%26#39;s idyllic for 2 days until you realise you need to drive back down the track and the winding roads every time you need to buy provisions, go to eat, visit soemwhere, etc.

Nevertheless, tuscany is really great
