Restaurant suggestion please Peb7

Although we are regular visitors to Prague, we do have out favourtite restaurants and tend to stick to them. We are coming over at half term and I have already booked Kogos and Brasiliero as my children (13 and 9) love both of them. I know you have children. What are their favourite restaurants?

Buffalo Bills in Vodickova, Red, Hot %26amp; Blues on Rybna behind Kotva, Pizzeria Coleseum at the back of the Myslbek shopping centre on Ovocny Trh (or the original Pizzeria Coleseum in the Lucerna Building in Vodickova) always go down well with kids, if you can keep them out of McDonalds or KFC. All are much cheaper than TGI Fridays on Na Prikope.

For lunch, try Sandwich King on Kralodvorska behind Obecni Dum or the Jarmark buffet upstairs in the Myselbek shopping centre on Na Prikope.

|||

You could also try Ambiente on Manesova (always need to book - very popular(.

They have great ribs, wings, fajitas, steaks, etc. Try to chocolate fondue for desert. Great kid food.

Thanks for the suggestions. Fortunately we only ever resort to McDonalds for breakfast %26amp; coffe if we are in a hurry. We%26#39;ve been to most of the Ambiente group. The kids love Rudy Baron , but their favourite is Brasiliero (or House of the Green Frog as my son calls it!). And you%26#39;re right, they always go for the fondue. We%26#39;ve got our table reserved for next week-end and can%26#39;t wait. We discovered Jarmark in the Lucerne building a few years ago and do have lunch there sometimes as it is a novelty however very little English is spoken here and my Czech is dreadful. Is the Jarmark in Myselbeck any better?

|||

Jarmark in Myslebek is more modern than than Jarmark in Lucerna, is better laid out and larger. not too much Czech is spoken, but you don%26#39;t really need it - you just pick up what you need, point at what you want to eat if it is hot, and pay, and often much cheaper and quicker than a formal restaurant for lunch.

Ambiente restaurants are always good value. Rudi Baron has been sold though by Ambiente, but is still Rudi Baron. Does this mean you are staying in Prague 2, rather than Prague 1, as can give you some other tips in that district, rather than in the centre?

|||

We are staying in an apartment on Vodickova as we like to be quite central. So we might try Buffalo Bills this time. We also often walk up Stepanska to the Twin Dragon which is a Chinese that we discovered a few years back. Great cheap food and the owners are very freindly and alwys give the children treats. When we go to Rudi Baron we usually take a taxi.

Enjoyed this thread. Thank you. You are not staying in Residence Langhans by any chance HS? I%26#39;m looking for a current review!

Oh, and how about favourite dining sans kids?

|||

In Wencerslas Square, try the restaurant Hot in the Hotel Jalta and if you like fish, try the Alcron restaurant in the Radisson on Stepanska (need to book as only 7 tables). Also the Radisson BeBop bar has a great jazz trio playing at weekends and is devoid of stag parties and other groups. Zahrada v opere to the left of the Muzeum at the top of Wenceslas Square is another top restaurant

|||

Just looked at the web-site for Zahrada v opere. Looks good. May try it and report back. Another restaurant we go to is Stoleti on Karoliny Svetle. Must admit I%26#39;m biased as my brother is one of the partners (hence our frequent visits to Prague) But we%26#39;ve sent lots of our friends here and we%26#39;ve never had a complaint. In fact most people go back again.

We%26#39;re not in Langhams, but in the top floor apartment on the corner of Vodickova/Wenceslas. Have stayed on Vodickova before. We were there for a week last Easter and didn%26#39;t have any noise problems. But as people have said on other threads, the higher up the apartment you are the better.

|||

Stoleti is a good Czech restaurant and I applaud it for sticking to Czech cuisine instead of trying to be an international restaurant. Service is good too, probably because it is run by a foreigner. Not so sure though about naming all the menu options after famous people though; the restaurant doesn%26#39;t need to do that if it is good enough.

www.stoleti.cz for those that are interested

The main partners who run it on a daily basis are actually Czech who have very high standards. Don%26#39;t know where the idea of naming meals after people came from, but it was a novelty at the start of the business to differentiate them. Agree that it probably isn%26#39;t necessary now as it%26#39;s a very popular restaurant. But difficult to change these things once they have been started.
