which currency to use

What is the best currency to use the czech money or euros.

|||

I know this seems daft but local currency usualy works best.

so use Czech crowns

£1 = 40 Czk approx.

Hi

Can you imagine going round the UK offering euros to buy a bus ticket, or the USA trying to buy a coffee with pounds. It%26#39;s the same in the Czech Republic, their own currency is crowns and that%26#39;s what you need to take.

I understand the logic of first time visitors to Prague thinking they might use Euros since its admission to the EU and I%26#39;m sure that will eventually come.

|||

In some of the big supermarkets and shops they do accept Euros, but will use a lower exchange rate, so Czech Crowns make more sense. Change money only at the banks or get money out of the wall, this way you will get the decent exchange rate.

To Jackie 34 %26amp; Unglegas.

There is no need to be rude!!! Czech republic is part of the eu %26amp; we were advised by the bank that euros were widely accepted.

Hi

I%26#39;m sorry if you thought I was being rude, I have heard that the post office advises people to use euros instead of the local currency but not the banks too.

They just want to take your money off you, that%26#39;s one charge for changing from pounds to euros and another for euros to crowns.

Your best bet is to get a cash point card which doesn%26#39;t charge for making withdrawels abroad, and I bet your bank didn%26#39;t tell you which one to get.

Have a good trip

I didn%26#39;t think I was being rude either.you asked the question.

If you want rude ,why not just stay at home and spend you Euros in Tesco.

|||

now that was rude!

|||

Don%26#39;t think Jackie was being rude - she was absolutely spot on answering what really is a question which is nonsensical. Thinkhow rude it is to the local people when you want to pay in Euros; you are saying, I think you%26#39;re currency is toy monopoly money and it%26#39;s not worth it.

Actually on using Euros in Tesco, there was a survey of what is the best exchange rate you get for 100 Euros in Prague in the newspapers last weekend, and although the actual exchange rate is not the best, because Tesco doesn%26#39;t charge commission, the number of Czech crowns you got for buying a packet of chewing gum in Tesco with a 100 Euro note and receiving the change in Czech crowns was higher than for all exchange bureaux bar one

To Jackie34, I apologise for saying your reply was rude. I would like to say one thing we live in Ireland where the currency is Euro %26amp; we actually went into bank to buy czech currency %26amp; they told us that we didn%26#39;t need to as Euros were widely accepted. I would of course always expent to use local currency,But Hey who ever heard of a bank NOT wanting to take your money.

And lastly to UNCLEGUS how did last weekends 6 nations go!!
