Phone shops are all over the city center and you can buy SIM cards there. Not so much near the castle and in Mala Strana though. Near the Wenceslac Square there are shops without end.

What about up by the airport or the Dejvicka area?

GSM cell phones in the US may not work in Europe. Check frequency on the phone to see if it%26#39;s compatible with Europe network. Also see if there is a network lock on cell as these usually free cell phones that come with Plan providers often are proprietary and might be locked by the carriers.

Thanks for the info.

We have 2 European cell phones...both are unlocked.

We need a SIM card for use in Prague and wondered where we could make a purchase after arriving at the train station.

Can the SIM card be purchased at a TABAC or magazine shop in the station like in France? Do we need to purchase in a phone store???

Regards

Martha

Gabinka - there is a mobile phone - rental outlet at terminal 1 arrivals hall at the airport.

mholzgrefe - you can buy prepay top up cards at tabak stalls, but you may find one of the phone company%26#39;s shops more easier to deal with. Vodafone tend to speak more English than the other two mobile companies; T-Mobile and Eurotel
