for sarah daly

Keep seeing you mentioning Vysherad and have yet to visit. Have done all the usual stuff last 2 visits and are taking our 3 daughters ( 17, 19 %26amp; 22 ) to Prague this time- looking for new areas to explore. Where do we get the Metro from ( we are staying in Hybernska- the Tulip Inn ), do we get off at last stop, and what tram should we get back? What can we expect there?

Walk to the Hlavni nadrazi metro station (downstairs in the central station 5 minutes walk from the Tulip Inn). Catch the metro to Vysehrad metro station. Get off the metro, go out to the congress centre (good views of the castle), walk round this and the Holiday Inn hotel and you will come to the gate.

You can either go back to the metro, or take the side entrance down to Vratislavova and follow this down to the main road. Walk under the railway bridge and to the embankment and you can then catch the number 3 tram all the way back past Wenceslas Square and get off at Senovazne namesti 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

Alternative is to take the metro out to Nadrazi Holesovice from Hlavni nadrazi (opposite direction to Vysehrad), catch the number 112 bus out to Troja. You can either go to the zoo or Troja Chateau and then walk across the bridge and through the Stromovka park back to Prague (number 5 tram from Vystaviste will bring you back to the Hlavni nadrazi tram stop at Bolzanova just behind the Tulip Inn.

Otherwise take a day trip outside Prague - have you visited the Czech countryside? There are some easy day trips that can be had by public transport

Thanks Peb, posted it for Sarah as she mentions it often - great directional advice-gives us another option. We are going on the Staropramen brewery tour as my husband %26amp; 19 year old daughter are fans of it but looking for other options too.

Vysehrad is worth going to as historically it is the original Prague castle, and there are great views across the river to the present Prague castle.

Sorry been in Barcelona, but thats another board!

Vysherad is beautiful for the view of the rest of Prague, but its lovely because its usually quiet and peaceful especially when the rest of Prague is busy. There%26#39;s a church and grave yard and a couple of restaurants.

I usually say get metro cos its a steep uphill walk if you don%26#39;t (we walked last time).

See the graves of the great Czech composers, Dvorak and Smetana. Also the great Art Nouveau artist, Alfons Mucha.

Here are some others:

Took us ages to find Dvorak.

Let me know what you think to Staropramen tour, hopefully we%26#39;ll manage that one on our trip in December.
