Nationl Theatre

I am travelling to Prague for the first time in April and hope to book for the ballet at the National Theatre. Can anybody advise the best seats, either the first balcony or the central %26#39;stalls%26#39;. We are also hoping to take a boat trip. Day or night which is best? Thanks

We saw the ballet there over Christmas--sat in the center of the first balcony and the view was fantastic.

I prefer the 1st Balcony if you can get a seat in the first row as it is an impressive view of the theatre and the production. Any higher than this and you will see the orchestra pit. Plus I don%26#39;t like to look up for two hours which can be the %26quot;stalls%26quot; problem.

The boxes at the National are angled oddly - only take one if you get all of the front seats. Two weeks ago we saw Tosca from the third row back of the Orchestra on the floor - great but 3-4 rows back would be better, especially if you are not tall (Sova%26#39;s right about the head angle). I think he is also right about the first row of the first balcony, but those can be hard to get - they were sold out an hour before we went.

To my mind the boat trips are a complete waste, especially in anything but warm summer weather. I can%26#39;t figure what you could se from there that you can%26#39;t see strolling across bridges and along the walkways lining most of the Vlatava%26#39;s banks.
