Short term apartment vs. hotel??

I am planning a trip to Prague in May for my wedding. I have noticed there seem to be quite a few short term apartments advertised for weekly or monthly rental. Has anyone done this rather than stay at a hotel? It seems to be far cheaper, I have just never done this and would appreciate any input. Thanks!

Yes we stayed in a Fox Apartment last Sept/October. Owner is a friendly Aussie. Clean, basic and quite spacious. Just a two stop tram ride to central city. Definately the way to go.

We are using vrbo (Vacation Rental By Owner) very successfully for a stay in Paris. They also have apartments in Prague.

You might want to try a %26quot;residence%26quot; hotel -- suites set up like apartments but with hotel services -- will call taxis, provide directions, etc. We stayed at the Residence Retezova, in the Old Town, which was very comfortable. The Residence Hotel Alchymist in Mala Strana is very beautiful, and romantic. Both very small.
