Walking Pub Tour

We have booked the Historic Pub tour thru pragueexperience.com for Sunday night March 19. Sounds interesting and very reasonably priced. If any fellow travelers are interested, please join up.

|||

I%26#39;d love to come but have the slight technical difficulty that I%26#39;m not in Prague until December. So please report back on it.

Thanks

Sarah

|||

they don%26#39;t go anywhere near my favourite pubs, so I won%26#39;t join you. Tend to keep to tourist pubs and pubs they have arrangements with

|||

Too bad...I would like to meet you both. Thanks to both of you for the advice you have given. This is our second trip to Prague (Visiting Vienna, Bratislava, and Kutna Hora also on this trip) and we will being staying at U Karlova Mostu.

Can%26#39;t wait !!!!!!

|||

You%26#39;ll like U karlovu mostu, request a room at the top looking over Charles Bridge.

|||

when you go to Vienna, go to the Muzeum quarter, the Belvedere to see the Klimts that remain, to Schonbrunn (gardens are much better than the palace itself), the opera if you can afford, and to see the Spanish riding school train in the morning.

don%26#39;t know whether you are on an organised trip, but the best way from Vienna to Bratislava is by boat - takes 3 hours, but it is a wonderful trip

Bratislava castle isn%26#39;t much inside but the view from the hill is. If you have time take a trip out to the medaeval castle at Devin upstream from Bratislava. And stand on the embankment in Bratislava just looking at the Danube. The water gets forced round the bend by the castle and the sheer volume of water and speed of the flow is amazing - you will see what I mean if you do it.

|||

Thank you for the suggestions Peb.

We are staying at Pension Pertschy which is right across the street from the Spanish Riding school. We are planning to attend one of the morning workout sessions.

Schloss Schonbrunn is a definite. We plan to spend some time there.

For concerts, we chose a Motzart/Strauss %26quot;tourist%26quot; concert at Auersperg Palace.

Bratislava looks interesting and very reasonably priced. We will be staying at Botel Marina on the Danube just below the castle.

Flying on Czech Airlines from Bratislava to Prague. Have used Czech airlines before (Budapest to Prague last year). They are very good.

|||

wouldn%26#39;t go to a tourist concert. For the same price, you can get a seat at the Musikverein, which is one of the premier concert halls in the world.

Hope the weather is not too stormy; the danube can get pretty rough if you stay on a boat.

Flight from Prague to bratislava is a turboprop (ATR) if you don%26#39;t like that kind of thing, but the flight is only 40 minutes. Also what is not too well known in Bratislava is that the presidential palace gardens are open to the public. Walk down the street either to the left or right of the palace and you will find the entrance. Hotel Perugia on zelena street just off the mian square serves much better Slovak fare than the Slovenske restauracia on Hviezdoslavovo namesti

|||

Thanks again Peb.

The Turbo-Prop doesn%26#39;t bother me. I am in the Aircraft Engine (Jet and Prop) business.

I have heard that the food at Hotel Perugia is excellent. That is 2 recommendations. I will have to try it.

Have you ever been to the 1st Slovak Pub on Obchodna or the KGB Pub...same street. Two places I want to try.

|||

1st Slovak pub not worth it. KGB full of teenagers. montana%26#39;s grizzly bar on michalska (if it is still open) is one of the happening places in town. Also there is a great Slovak wine bar opposite the Irish bar on Sedlarska is good - slovaks are different from Czechs. Czechs drink beer; Slovaks drink wine.

Restaurant at the hotel devin and upstairs at La dolce Vita on Panska serves good game
