how much would i expect to pay from airport to hotel antels?

I am off to prague on wednesday and have read lots about the taxi drivers ripping you off which is makign me very nervous. We arrive in the evenign on Wednesday and I wanted to know what I should expect to pay by taxi and how to minimise being ripped off.We will probably use public transport where possible the rest of the time but just want to get to the hotel as quicky and hastle free as possible after the flight.

Sorry meant to write ANDELS

I got where you meant, use the cedaz mini bus 480Kc (about £12) for upto for people, you will probably share and drop off at other hotels. But honestly I find this the most convenient way from the airport, we know Prague well enough to be able to get from the airport on public transport but most of the time we just can%26#39;t be bothered to. Prague public transport is excellent once you get into the centre.

taxi should cost you no more than 700 crowns from the airport to andels, which is less than 20 pounds - let%26#39;s put that rip off into perspective in UK terms - less than 2 people travelling one way on the heathrow express. If you are staying at the Andels hotel, ask them how much a transfer in one of their cars will cost - you should be able to charge the cost to your room.

you will need public transport to get around at andels and the best thing is to buy either a 3 day ticket (220 crowns) or 7 day ticket (280 crowns) at the Prague Transport Authority office at the airport (on the left once you have cleared customs). At least there, the people speak English unlike at some metro stations

i%26#39;ve said this before, but I honestly don%26#39;t see 700 crowns for a taxi door to door outside the airport with no hassle a rip off. In essence, you get what you pay for - convenience. And for the price that is the same as one way on the Heathrow Express for one person. I can%26#39;t think of many other Western European cities when you can get from the airport to the centre by taxi for as cheap.

Yes you can go through the hassle of ringing for a radio taxi, going out of the terminal building to somewhere in the car park to pick you up and then discovering how much your roaming charge cost you on your mobile when you get home, and of course for a local, it is much easier and you have more faith in local radio controlled taxis than a first time tourist who has never come acorss them before.

Cedaz shared minibuses of course offer a door to door service for less (albeit via dropping other people off) if you don%26#39;t want to pay 700 crowns, but I would again say, what we do and are prepared to do in our own familiar place is different from what we are normally prepared to do abroad

Hi local experts,

My husband and I will arrive at Prague Airport around 8am next week. We would like to take a car/taxi/limo from the airport to Riverside Hotel because we have a lot of luggage. I contacted the hotel about a car pick up, and their quote is 34euro/one way/one car. I think 34euro is about 976crowns.

Do you recommend that we should take a taxi, which would cost less, from the airport to Riverside Hotel? If so, how can we avoid those drivers who may try to rip us off? Or, should we use a car arranged by the hotel to be safe?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hello Pebs...

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;i%26#39;ve said this before, but I honestly don%26#39;t see 700 crowns for a taxi door to door outside the airport with no hassle a rip off. Sure it is not a rip-off, if you compare it to London where the average salary is about 400% higher than in Prague...However, i don%26#39;t think it is useful to always give responses to everybody by assuming that they fall to the lowest common denominator. The needs and desires of people who visit this forum are often diverse. And some who arrive at the airport may be hard pressed to pay the 100kc required by public transportation. So I think it would be prudent to %26#39;let a thousand flowers bloom%26#39; and take other points of view with a grain of salt.

My point of view here is that there are services in Prague who provide private car transfers by Mercedes E-class for just a bit more than the taxi price you are quoting. And that is the height of comfort and convenience as far as airport transfers are concerned.

For the rest, many non-locals are frequent visitors to Prague who would appreciate alternatives to Cedaz, Prague Airport Shuttle and FIX taxis.

Your hotel can arrange a pickup for you for about 650 czeck crowns. The drivers are very reliable.
