Prague to Saltzburg

How can I take a train from Prague to Saltzburg? It can be one way as we%26#39;ll then go into Munich from Saltzburg.

Hey there,

This %26quot;Economics%26quot; teacher is trying to take a train from Salzburg to Prague...just thought I would try and catch some of your replies, piano!

We would also be interested in a night train or couchette. Thanks,

Chip

Have a look at:

http://fahrplan.oebb.at/bin/query.exe/en

From: Praha

To: Salzburg

There are only two good connections a day, one at 6:23 am, one at 5:53 pm. Travel time is 6:04 to 6:21

No need or possibility to have a sleeper/couchette, as the arrival with the evening train is 00:14 am. This train actually has couchettes and Sleepers but only for passengers going to Venice or elsewhere.

Tickets can be bought in Prague at the station (usually the best way) or reserved online at www.idos.cz --%26gt; Union Jack --%26gt; Vlakove Spoje (3 days to 60 days in advance). I%26#39;d prefer to buy them in Prague.

I read your comment regarding trains from salzburg to Prague, with a change of trains in Linz(example - 163 train to the EC100 tain). There is only a 5 minute difference between train connections. When I asked the Eurrail people by telephone in the US, they said trains would not wait for other late trains. I will be traveling with children and there grandparents. How do you know that they will wait? Should we take the ealier train from salzburg to Linz to insure being able to get the connection(EC100)? Have you done this trip before? Do you have to bring food on this 6 hour trip? Is it better to get a 1st class ticket? Is the Prague train station safe to arrive at night? Thank you.

Of course there%26#39;s no 100% assurance that your connecting train will wait but usually trains wait for each other if one is late. They don%26#39;t wait for an hour... but if trains run 5 or 10 mins. late, they wait.

You can take an earlier train of course. Connection is often on the same platform, otherwise there are escalators and elevators. First class offers you more space, often drinks and snacks are served to your seat (prices from the restaurant coach). Many trains have a restaurant onboard... it will be shown in the timetable.

Don%26#39;t worry, using trains is very easy!
