reading about all the pickpockets on public transportation...should I try to take a taxi rather than metro if arriving at Holesovice? or am i overreacting? and what is the best way to get a reasonable taxi there--given all the stories about tourist ripoffs?

i would like to take a taxi from the train station to my hotel- i read on tripadvisor not to take a taxi right outside the train station. Where should i get a taxi from?

which hotel are you going to, as Holesovice is on the metro - most of the reports of pickpockets were either on the airport bus or the 22 tram? If you have a mobile, ring 14014 which is AAA taxis and they speak English and will pick you up door to door. Also ask if your hotel will arrange a hotel pick up

Well, then have the hotel arrange taxi. DO NOT take a taxi at the train station.
Or us the metro - where are you going to?
Just be aware of pick pockets and you will be fine. They know that a victim looks like a victim.

question..will it be clear where to get metro tickets? I already have czech notes but no coins -- from what I have read there is both a tourist office and metro ticket office at holosovice where you can get metro tickets--can you also buy tickets at local shops in the station?

You can buy the tickets in the shop/ kiosk at the train station, also.

I will be going to marriott apartments at login center. I plan to take the 6:08 a.m. train from vienna (and am hoping to get a seat without a reservation (i have a ticket).
Will the hotels arrange for a picup at the train station?

marriott will arrange a pick up from the station. I guess it will cost you something like 600 crowns, but it will take away all the hassle of walking across a very busy street from the metro station to the marriott appartments with your luggage
