prague day trips

can anyone help.

i%26#39;m going to prague with my elderly parents at the end of March. I%26#39;ve been to prague before and feel it would be nice to get away from the city for a day trip.

Does anyone know any suitable ones i.e. to a nice town or palace, and is Dresden too far for a day trip?

It%26#39;s an all-day trip, but I understand Cesky Krumlov is special. For less time, there%26#39;s Terezin. My mother, who fought in WWII, would have wanted to see both.

Dresden takes 2.5 hours by train and is a good day trip as the train station in Dresden is close to the city centre, and Dresden is a flat place.

Cesky Krumlov at 3.5 hours or so is a bit far out. Kutna Hora takes and hour or so by train and has a wonderful cathedral.

Also think about a day trip inside Prague - take the metro out to Vysehrad to look at the remains of the original Prague castle

If you are into art, the castle Nelahozeves has the biggest private art collection in Europe; the exhibition %26quot;Six Centuries of European Art Patronage%26quot; includes Lucas Cranach the Elder, both Bruegels, Paolo Veronese, Peter Paul Rubens, Diego Velázquez and two fantastic Canalettos.

The castle is beautiful and you can have lunch there; also the birthhouse of Dvorak is next to it with a small exhibition. You can go by train, but be prepared, the walk up to the castle is steep.

Beautiful in March are the spa towns, nice flat walks, about 1hour plus from Prague. You can go by bus or train or on an organized tour. There is the Moser (crystal glas) and the Becherovka (schnaps) factories to see as well.

Many thanks to everyone who replied to my S.O.S.

Regarding the main prague castle,my dad wouldnt make it up the hill,so do buses go right to the top does anyone know?

Also, are U Fleku and U Medvidku the only beer halls? They were okay but very touristy! I like places like The Radegast

the 22 tram takes you up the hill to the castle, there are others and I am sure Peb will tell you which ones.
